The last Trump administration passed a tax change that took effect in 2022 and forced all software development costs to be amortized over 5 years. So in a simplified scenario if a company makes $110k and spends $100k on software development ($10k profit), they are now taxed for an income of $90k.
This has been a predictable disaster for smaller software companies that rely on revenue to pay the bills. I guess since this is a puff piece they didn't feel it was worth mentioning.
