Basically - automakers would love a car that's like a smartphone that turns into a paperweight just decade and a half later and you have to buy a new one despite all the main components work fine except the built in battery.
They surely want such transition ASAP.
Whether the planet has that much Lithium or not, whether Lithium is recyclable out of old batteries or not and both processes of extraction of copper and lithium and later recycling of Lithium have how much carbon footprint?
Who cares?
